Police, who are yet to make any breakthrough in the murder of a retired school teacher in Kasba, today said they suspect she was murdered by someone known to her.
Police have already interrogated the maid servant of Sulachana Chary, the victim, and would question a relative. However, police are yet to get any motive behind the murder. Investigating into the case, police found that the cupboard inside the room was broken. Police are not sure about the valuables which are missing from the house. “We would talk to the neighbours, her students and relative to ascertain about her belongings,” said a senior officer of the city police.
According to police, yesterday she went out of her house at around 11 a.m. and returned at 1.30 p.m. Police are investigating where she went and whom she met during the period. Police also found that she last talked with a student at 7.40 a.m. over her mobile phone.
Police said the victim was associated with two private coaching centres and they are also taking their help. Police are checking the call details of her mobile phone which was recovered from her flat. So far police found that she was killed after she put up a resistance against the assailant.  The post-mortem of the victim has confirmed that she was murdered. Since there was no CCTV installed in the complex police could not ascertain who visited the victim yesterday.  Last night police found the body of the Sulachanta Kerry, a retired school teacher, on the floor between her bed and dining table with her throat slit. “We are investigating the matter and would comment only after examining all the aspects,” said Mr Pallav Kanti Ghosh, Joint Commissioner of Police (crime).
