The renowned academic and former Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim University, Dr Mahendra P Lama, who has already decided and announced to contest the coming 2014 Lok Sabha election from Darjeeling constituency as an
independent candidate
has sent a letter to
different political parties seeking appointment
for their support in the
election.
Dr Lama, who was in Kurseong today during a campaigning program for 2014 general polls, said they have already said that they have no enemies and that they only need support from all parties in the coming election.
Hence, he has sent
letters to all concerned political organisations, seeking appointment from them,
so that, they can place and share their views and
issues to these respective political organisations to garner their support in
the coming prestigious
election.
He said that letters have been sent to the GNLF, CPM, CPRM etc. and even GJMM, including the Trinamul Congress and its senior leader, Mr Gautam Deb.
When asked, if he is ready to seek support from the Trinamul Congress
also, he said that obviously, he will be seeking help
from all organisations and individuals.
Even, he is willing to ally with the Trinamul Congress but he said that both of them must have a common standing on various issues but stressed that he would never contest the election under the banner of any political parties.
He also said that he has requested all the political parties to give him appointment between 11 to 15
January.
Notably, under the banner of Darjeeling Dooars United Development
Forum, an apolitical organisation, Mr Lama has already
decided and has announced to contest the coming
2014 Lok Sabha election
from Darjeeling constituency as an independent candidate.
