Four police personnel were injured in an encounter with a gang of robbers from Bihar last night at Sakullapur Ghoshpara village of Panchanandapur in the Kaliachak police station. Two dacoits were injured too in the encounter.
A team of police has started for Ahmedabad in Bihar where those two injured dacoits are being treated in a hospital.
Police sources informed that on Thursday night around 12.30 p.m police got information that an armed gang of dacoits from
 Bihar was coming to Panchanandapur to rob few houses.
Immediately, a large contingent of police from Mothabari outpost and English Bazaar led by the deputy superintendent of police Mr Siddharth Dorji rushed to Panchanandapur.
The Superintendent of Police, Mr Kalyan Mukherjee, said: "Seeing police, the robber-gang that came by boat started hurling bombs and opened fire. Police also paid them back on their own coins.
The encounter continued for over half an hour. Later, the robbers started retreating.
Police found 42 live bombs, eight sharp weapons, two daggers and other weapons from the spot."
