Braving inclement weather, CPI-M activists went on protest march in different districts of south Bengal to raise their voice against the killing of party worker Abu Bakkar Koyal allegedly by Trinamool Congress gunmen for demanding relief for flood victims of Minakha in North 24-parganas on Tuesday last.

CPI-M state secretariat member Robin Deb said that protest march and streetcorner meetings were held mostly in local-level demanding immediate arrest of the assailants and their exemplary punishment.

CPI-M state secretary Dr Suryakanta Mishra has already condemned the incident. Expressing concern at the worsening law and order situation in the state, Dr Mishra said: “things have gone to such a pass that flood victims have been receiving bullets for seeking relief.”
