Chief minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit three districts of north Bengal by helicopter and attend government programmes from 2 November, political sources have said.
Banerjee will be arriving in the Dooars tentatively on 1 November by helicopter and leave for Kolkata on 5 November, the sources said on Wednesday.
Political sources also said that the CM and the Trinamul Congress chief, Banerjee, will start campaigning for the next Assembly elections through the government programmes.
"Though people and leaders, including a senior leader of the Forward Bloc, Udayan Guho, joined the Trinamul Congress, the state leadership has expressed concern over the present political trend in north Bengal, following the party's poor show in the Siliguri Municipal Corporation and Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad elections," sources said, adding, "Mamata Banerjee will leave no stone unturned (to do well) in north Bengal."
This time around, the CM will first visit Cooch Bihar from Jayanti, where she will have her base to visit the three districts.
Sources also said that the two sites-Jayanti and Rajabhatkhawa-have been selected as her 'base camp' and that the same would be finalized by chief minister herself."CM Mamata Banerjee will be coming to north Bengal on 1 November and she will stay in the Dooars. She will attend a government programme near Falakata in Cooch Behar on 2 November," said Rabindranath Ghosh, the Cooch Behar district Trinamul Congress president.
Sources also confirmed that the CM will hold a meeting at Jaigaon, close to the Indo-Bhutan border, on 3 November, and she interact with political leaders, traders and officials for the development of trade in the international level with Bhutan, a country that the CM recently visited.
On the same day she would attend another programme at Alipurduar, a district newly formed by bifurcating Jalpaiguri.
"The CM will go to all programme venues in a helicopter, either from Jayanti or Rajabhatkhawa. She will attend another government programme in Malbazaar in Jalpaiguri on 4 November," said a senior official.
Political sources said the CM may stay at Sukna in Siliguri on the night of 4 November and leave for Kolkata on the 5th or leave for Kolkata from Malbazar on 4 November.
Banerjee will be arriving in the Dooars tentatively on 1 November.
