He said the government had decided to open model schools in all 314 blocks of Odisha under the aegis of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya so that all students don’t have to move to cities for quality education.

The government has constructed 100 English-medium schools under the scheme in the first phase. The remaining blocks will be covered in the later phase.

The schools will follow the Central Board of Secondary Education curriculum with English as the first language and Odia as the second language.

Initially, these schools will offer admissions to classes VI, VII and VIII. Besides, 50 percent seats will be reserved for girl students. As many as 905 teachers have been recruited for these schools.

The schools’ infrastructure and other facilities are in line with those of the Kendriya Vidyalayas, like pupil-teacher ratio and information communication technology use etc.
