Chairman of the Islamic Centre of India and member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board( AIMPLB) Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the move calling it a welcome relief.
According to the UP government records as of Wednesday, over 15,000 registrations have been completed out of the total 1.26 lakh waqf properties in the state.
In a statement on Monday, the Maulana said that the Supreme Court's interim decision regarding the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 had upheld the legal requirement for all Waqf to register on the 'Umeed Portal'.
Delivering the Friday sermon at Jama Masjid Eidgah, Lucknow, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali stated that Waqf is an integral part of Islam, as mentioned in the Quran.
The closed-door discussion focused on the prevailing socio-political challenges in India, particularly those affecting minority communities.
The portal is expected to bring about a paradigm shift in how Waqf assets are administered by introducing greater transparency, accountability, and public participation
Apart from this, a large number of encroached Wakf properties being used as business establishments will also be under scanner in the survey.
