Uttar Pradesh Waqf Tribunal has granted a six-month extension for registration on the UMEED Central Portal on the request of the UP Sunni Waqf Board and others.

Chairman of the Islamic Centre of India and member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board( AIMPLB) Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli, on Wednesday expressed satisfaction with the move calling it a welcome relief.

The maulana urged all mutawallis (caretakers of waqf properties) to complete the pending registration of their Waqf properties within this extended period. He appreciated the efforts of the Waqf Board Chairman, Mr. Zufar Ahmad Farooqui, their legal team, board officials, and staff members for working tirelessly to complete the waqf registrations on the portal.

The maulana stated that the deadline for the online registration has now been extended till June 5 2026. He expressed hope that all Waqf properties will be registered in an organized manner within this time.

Around 40,000 waqf in UP are yet to be registered after the last date expired on December 5 last. There are around 1.26 lakh waqf properties in UP of which 86,000 have been uploaded on the UMEED portal so far.
