Abhishek Banerjee asserted his commitment by boldly stating that he would step down from politics if the BJP-led Centre could furnish concrete evidence of releasing the due funds to the state.

A CBI team today conducted raids at the former residence at Sarberia and also visited Basirhat police station to take custody of the documents related to the 5 January case, allegedly filed by the officers of the said police station suo-motu.
"Preliminary talks have been held, we have apprised the central committee (of the MGP) of these talks, taken their views and have taken this decision. Our central committee has unanimously passed a resolution to align with the TMC," Dhavalikar told a press conference in Panaji.

He was earlier with the BJP, but left after differences with the leadership. Azad's wife is also active in Delhi politics.
The visit coincides with the start of Parliament's winter session. Banerjee is expected to meet with other like-minded party leaders in order to form an alliance with the opposition in Parliament since the Centre has been on the defensive since farm laws were repealed.
