The development has triggered speculation over growing dissatisfaction within the party ranks, especially after the veteran leader publicly pointed to internal campaign failures and attended an administrative meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
The incident took place late Friday night in Magrahat and the deceased has been identified as Moimur Gharami.
