The apex court left open the option of an election petition before the High Court as the Congress intensified its protest over the rejection of Natarajan's candidature.

The Supreme Court on Thursday was told that the Election Commission of India’s October 27, 2025, order for Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in nine states and three Union Territories was a copy-paste of the July 24, 2025 Bihar SIR order, issued without “demonstratable application of mind”, with the Commission acting as a “suspicious policeman” over the voters.
A Bench of Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice NV Anjaria reserved the judgment, likely to be delivered on December 19 before the Court’s winter break, after the conclusion of arguments by the Delhi Police opposing the bail pleas.
The apex court also questioned the State’s opposition to the probe when the allegations involved individuals stated to be close to Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
