Trinamool Congress MP and the chief minister’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, whose rapid promotion and growing clout in the party is thought to have been one cause for Adhikari’s rebellion, is reported to have had a sit-down with the former state transport minister and south Bengal strongman in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The man behind these posters in Malda, Kajal Goswami, a TMC leader, however, claimed that though he had quit the party, Mr Adhikari had not and said he hung up his posters "out of love and respect for the minister, though he has been marked as a BJP agent by the TMC leadership in the district."
According to TMC party sources, Mr Adhikari expressed his displeasure at the role of some Behrampore-based Trinamul leaders who played the role of saboteurs causing the defeat of the TMC candidate, Mr. Apurba Sarkar in Behrampore Lok Sabha seat.
