Monsoon fury in Himachal Pradesh has severely damaged infrastructure, disrupting 819 roads, including three national highways, along with 1,236 electricity transformers and 424 water supply schemes across the state, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that nature’s fury has tragically claimed the lives of 17 persons, besides causing extensive damage to roads, power transformers, electric sub-stations, and numerous water supply.
NDRF and SDRF teams have been kept on standby at Kunavaram, Chintoor and V. R. Puram in East Godavari district and Jangareddygudem and K. R. Puram in West Godavari district.
The worst-hit districts are Kolhapur, Raigad, Sangli, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sindhudurg, Mumbai, and Thane, hitting a total of 890 villages.

The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) is leading the operation with the assistance of the federal National Disaster Management Authority and the military.
"The QRT would be deployed in 80 forest fire sensitive Forest Ranges in the state in addition to forest staff," said Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary BK Agarwal.
