Continuing its sustained crackdown on organised gold smuggling syndicates, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out a series of intelligence-driven operations across the country, resulting in the seizure of over 27 kg of foreign-origin smuggled gold and the arrest of 12 persons.
Three of a gang were arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for robbing Indonesian nationals of two kilogram of illegally smuggled gold, the police said on Tuesday.

"The passengers came in three flights and were intercepted by the team of DRI officers at the airport," the official said.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday seized a sizable amount of gold biscuits at the Guwahati railway station, officials said.
The Customs team seized the recovered gold under Customs Act and arrested the accused. Further probe is on.
Two gold bars weighing around 2 kilogram have been recovered from the accused, which is valued over Rs. 85.70 lakhs.
