The Congress leader referred to the newly launched scheme under which eligible women from the general category are to receive ₹1,000 per month, while Scheduled Caste women are entitled to ₹1,500 per month.
Addressing a press conference in here, Congress MP and General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala accused the Prime Minister of contradicting his own political rhetoric and pursuing policies that would severely hurt small jewellers, artisans and workers across the country.
Surjewala highlighted public statements by US officials, including Marco Rubio, who said India had committed to stop buying Russian oil as part of broader discussions tied to the trade framework. Rubio’s remarks came at the Munich Security Conference, where he said Washington had “gotten their commitment to stop buying additional Russian oil” following talks with Indian officials.
Surjewala added that “needless statements of some Congress leaders and MLAs have added to the speculation. INC has sternly warned them against making any public statements on the issue of leadership or falling for the agenda being propagated by vested interests.”
He made these remarks following discussions with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, emphasizing the resilience of the Congress-led administration despite political challenges.
“Mr Modi is talking about cooperative federalism but they are actually doing coercive centrism,” All India Congress Committee (AICC) communication in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said here during an interaction with media persons here.
