The probe has now widened with the entry of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is sending teams to both Amritsar and Jalandhar to assist in evidence collection and intelligence assessment.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused persons were in direct contact with a Pak-based handler through social media platforms, who were sharing coordinates to retrieve and further supply of weapon consignments.
Those arrested have been identified as Balwinder Singh (32), a resident of village Bhindi Nain in Amritsar and Jugraj Singh alias Jagga (29), a resident of village Mulla Behram in Amritsar.

The DGP, however, clarified that the focus of the police is not a figure based target, but to completely break the supply chains to make drugs unavailable across the state.
