The Punjab Cabinet has approved an ordinance that would require private schools to seek approval before increasing fees beyond 5% annually. The proposal also includes refund provisions for excessive fee hikes over the past three years.
The Punjab Cabinet has approved free bus travel for candidates and one attendant travelling to examination centres in Punjab and Chandigarh. Notably, the NEET-UG exam scheduled for May 3 was cancelled and has now been rescheduled for June 21.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Council of Ministers in its meeting held here under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, who joined it virtually from Fortis Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment.
A spokesperson from the Chief Minister’s Office stated that Punjab has witnessed numerous incidents in the past involving the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and other revered scriptures, deeply wounding public sentiment and causing unrest in society.
The Cabinet has also decided to give six per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) to government employees and pensioners with effect from October 1, 2022.
This will also help in keeping a better check over the supply of illicit liquor into Punjab from the neighbouring states.
Will be provided by the MPS. All MPS licenses will be issued by the department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs.
Pointing out further, the spokesperson said the MGR of zones of the state would be Rs 1440.96 Crore for a period of three months. However, the revenue target of this short term Excise Policy is kept at Rs 1910 Crore for three months' period.
The process of advertisement and notification of these jobs would be initiated within a month, added the spokesperson.
