As India moves towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, institutions like Nalanda University will play a vital role, said President Droupadi Murmu while addressing the convocation ceremony of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar, on Tuesday.
He remarked that India’s democratic traditions have long been admired for maintaining dignity and civility even in the face of political differences, and warned that any departure from these norms undermines the spirit of constitutional institutions.
‘’Awareness about water management and conservation among the younger generation will ensure the country's water security in future,’’ she said at a function on the occasion of ‘’Jal Mahotsav 2026’’ here. She expressed confidence that the ‘Jal Mahotsav’ will become a medium of mass movement for India's water security.
She was talking to a group of officer trainees of the 79th batch of Indian Revenue Service (IT) which called on her at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan communiqué said President Murmu accepted the credentials of Ambassador Gor, and the envoys of Trinidad and Tobago and Austria, Chandradath Singh and Robert Zischg.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister briefed the President on the diverse tribal art forms, traditions, folk life, and cultural practices of the Bastar region.
She called the initiative a significant step towards equipping the nation with future-ready capabilities in Artificial Intelligence and advancing India’s journey towards a technologically empowered and inclusive society.
