As India moves towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, institutions like Nalanda University will play a vital role, said President Droupadi Murmu while addressing the convocation ceremony of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar, on Tuesday.
He remarked that India’s democratic traditions have long been admired for maintaining dignity and civility even in the face of political differences, and warned that any departure from these norms undermines the spirit of constitutional institutions.
‘’Awareness about water management and conservation among the younger generation will ensure the country's water security in future,’’ she said at a function on the occasion of ‘’Jal Mahotsav 2026’’ here. She expressed confidence that the ‘Jal Mahotsav’ will become a medium of mass movement for India's water security.
She was talking to a group of officer trainees of the 79th batch of Indian Revenue Service (IT) which called on her at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The launch event, held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, was attended by Chief Minister Gupta, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and MLA Pankaj Singh.
Beginning her address with Jai Johar and paying homage to Maa Danteshwari, the President underlined the need to preserve tribal identity, culture and education.
The President’s presence is expected to lend national visibility to the event, positioning Bastar’s indigenous heritage at the centre of India’s cultural discourse.
President Droupadi Murmu, in her message on Uttar Pradesh Day, said the land of glorious history and rich culture has been a strong pillar in India’s journey of development. Expressing confidence in the state’s future, she said Uttar Pradesh would continue to move forward on the path of progress and wished a bright future for its hardworking and talented people.
President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the event as the Chief Guest, reaffirming the nation’s dedication to inclusive and active electoral participation.
