Prashant Kishor accused Nitish Kumar of political missteps and announced a door-to-door Jan Suraaj campaign to challenge the BJP in Bankipur.
Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor claimed that the Chief Ministerial face in Bihar would ultimately be chosen by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, suggesting that incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is being sidelined due to health concerns.
After failing to make an electoral impact in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections and the Supreme Court’s rejection to entertain the plea to cancel the Bihar Assembly elections, Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, also known as PK, has launched a state-wide tour to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots.
In its writ petition, Jan Suraaj had alleged large-scale irregularities in last year's elections in Bihar in which the NDA won, and sought fresh polls.
Bhojpuri singer and youth icon Ritesh Pandey has resigned from Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party after contesting the Bihar Assembly election. He says he now wants to serve people through music and social work.
Despite contesting almost every constituency, Jan Suraaj could not register a single win. Meanwhile, the NDA swept the polls, securing 202 seats, crossing the 200-seat mark for only the second time, the first being in 2010 when it won 206 seats.
Jan Suraaj said it was disappointed with its performance in the Bihar election and failed to galvanise votes in its favour. It further said the voters did not resonate with its election campaign that focused on key issues like unemployment, migration, and the lack of industries in Bihar.
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj entered the Bihar Election 2025 with high buzz, but trends show the party missing from the lead charts completely. As NDA and Mahagathbandhan dominate the count, Jan Suraaj is yet to register any movement. Here’s what this means for PK and his debut election.
A mock poll will be conducted at 5 am on Thursday in the presence of booth-level agents, and voting will begin at 7 am. Voting will continue till 6 pm, except at a few sensitive booths where polling will stop at 5 pm.
According to the notice, Kishor’s name appears on the electoral rolls of both states, an apparent violation of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
