The Centre on Friday told the Supreme Court that the methodology of the electoral bonds scheme is a "completely transparent" mode of political funding and it is impossible to get black money or unaccounted money.
Contending before a bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde, Advocate Prashant Bhushan said that that the detained Rohingyas may be deported to Myanmar which is currently under Army's control and also seeing violence.
The Supreme Court on August 31 imposed a token fine of Re 1 against Mr Bhushan as punishment in a contempt case against him.
'I have always believed the Supreme Court to be the last bastion of hope, particularly for their rights, often against a powerful executive,' he said.
The contempt case involves statements that Prashant Bhushan made during an interview to Tehelka magazine in 2009, in which he said half the 16 Chief Justices of India were corrupt.
A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra asked Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhavan, representing Bhushan, to suggest ways to resolve this matter.
The bench questioned Twitter why it can't disable the tweets on its own even after a contempt proceeding has been initiated.
The bench directed the Gujarat Police not to take any coercive action against Bhushan on the basis of the FIR until further orders are issued and also sought its reply in two weeks.
The Chief Justice has advanced cogent reasons for effecting a balance between development and the environment ~ “Green cover must be preserved and alternatives must be explored to develop infrastructure without cutting trees. Otherwise, it will lead to rapid deterioration of natural resources.”
