The 30-odd women of the self-help group (SHG) at Karmatirtha Bhawan in Haripur gram panchayat under the Pandaveswar block of West Burdwan district were very busy over the last few days to meet the last-minute delivery deadline for Rakhsha Bandhan celebrations.
Recognised by the India Book of Records, this achievement highlights the Yogi government’s strong political will and the success of its public participation model.
The order issued by the state government recently says that every urban body is expected to mark such public lands, parks, ponds, puddles, etc., in its body which are being encroached by the land mafia or anyone else.
Under this scheme, 75 ponds will be made in each district of the country, which will address the problem of depletion of ground water. The mission comes under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of Independence.
PM Modi gave this call at a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Party held at Ambedkar Bhavan on Tuesday at which he, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and others were present.
