India is the world’s second-largest fish producer, contributing 8 per cent to global output, ranks second in aquaculture production, leads in shrimp production and export, and is the second-largest producer in capture fisheries.
A programme was jointly organised by Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC), NCDC and Department of Fisheries, Ministry of FAHD, at Chandipur.
“PMMSY will pave the path for a renewed White revolution (dairy sector) and Sweet revolution (apiculture sector),” he said.
The export of fisheries was affected due to lockdown but now the situation has begun to improve and soon the department would further strengthen the fisheries activities.
