Legendary tribal leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Dishom Guru Shibu Soren has been posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to public service and the tribal rights movement.
The filmmaker recently took to his Instagram, and shared a picture of a dolphin. He also penned a long note in the caption, as he spoke about the AI project.
Padma Bhushan awardee Shekhar Kapur is coming out in support of Artificial Intelligence in the content business.
"Through his music, he built bridges between people and cultures. He would have been overjoyed to be acknowledged this way," said his daughter.
Victor Banerjee had burst on the silver screen in 1977 as the hookah-smoking Madr-ud-Daula, 'prime minister' of Awadh, in Satyajit Ray's 'Shatranj Ke Khiladi', and he maintains that it was the biggest break of his career that has seen him appearing in English, Hindi, Bengali and Assamese language films, working with marquee directors such as David Lean, James Ivory, Roman Polanski and Ronald Neame, and closer home, with Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal and Ram Gopal Verma.
"I don't know anything about a Padma Bhushan award. No one told me anything about it. If they have given me a Padma Bhushan award. I am rejecting it," he said in a brief statement in Bengali.
The nominations can be from among women, SC/STs, “divyang” persons and those who are doing selfless service to society.
The nominations/recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online only on the Padma Award portal https://padmaawards.gov.in.
The name of Baig in the list of 16 persons who have been conferred the award has surprised also the political observers.
