Speaking to the media he wondered, “Is he (Rao) extending an olive branch to the Congress or the BJP? Let him clarify. We ran two successful coalition governments in Delhi from 2004-2009 and then again in 2009-14.”
In a post on X, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya said, “You were the Home Minister when former Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee’s office was bugged. Does this ring a bell, Mr Chidambaram?”
Responding to Chidambaram's remarks, BJP's Malviya reminded him of an infamous incident of then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee's office being bugged.
Remarks from the Congress leader came after Kumaraswamy met Shah and Nadda in the national capital.
The former minister further claimed that it's absurd on the agency's part to even allege that he is a flight risk as a Look Out Circular is issued against him.
Last week Senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ahmed Patel also met Chidambaram.
Chidambaram is under probe by the CBI and ED over alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as Finance Minister.
Chidambaram will be produced before the court by the CBI for next hearing on September 19.
Judge Kuhar is currently presiding over the special court to try lawmakers in the national capital including Congress leader DK Shivakumar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his family members, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and his family members, among others.
