NIA court sentences ISIS operative Riyas Aboobacker to 25 years of imprisonment

Riyas Aboobacker was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2019 as a part of the probe against 14 persons from Kasaragod district.
A special NIA court, however, acquitted five other accused – Aseez Odakkali, Muhammad Rafi, Subair, Shefieq and Mansoor – for want of evidence.
The NIA had detained around a dozen persons in raids at around 14 places late on 26 May night in Jabalpur city.
Charge sheet was filled in case pertaining to the recovery of arms and ammunition at Tri-junction Narbal national highway on 20th November 2022.
Singh was brought to Jammu on a transit remand and a formal remand from the NIA court will be taken on Thursday, sources said.
They have been found guilty under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) including offences relating to membership of a terrorist organisation and support given to a terrorist organisation.
Thakur, a prime accused in the case, appeared before a Special NIA Court in Mumbai on Friday.
