The court, while awarding the sentence to the accused, Ran Singh, also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him in the case related to the seizure of high-quality Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) having a face value of Rs 94,000.
All these sentences will run concurrently for a maximum of 10 years of RI. The accused also faces a fine of Rs 5,000, with 6 months of additional sentence in the event of default in payment.
The accused included former BJP MP (2019 to 2024) Pragya Singh Thakur, retired Indian Army Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dwivedi, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, and Sameer Kulkarni.

It said the term the convict has spent in jail will be set off against the punishment awarded to him. Aboobacker had been in jail for the last five years.
Riyas Aboobacker was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2019 as a part of the probe against 14 persons from Kasaragod district.
