a significant order aimed at ensuring fairness, the Supreme Court on Friday directed the National Board of Examination (NBE) to conduct the NEET-PG 2025 examination in a single shift, rejecting the NBE’s proposed two-shift format on the ground that it creates “arbitrariness” and fails to provide a level playing field.
The NEET-PG exam was conducted by the NBE on August 11 and the results were announced on August 23.
Examining Boards, throughout India, have tried to mask the fall in educational standards; more students were declared passed in Board examinations of 2022 than in earlier years despite most examinees not attending classes for a single day.

Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati contended that the reservation policy on roster basis was being followed in the counselling process.
As per the National Board of Examinations (NBE) notification, the first round of the DNB- PDECET counseling will start on September 30 while the date of joining is from October 8 to 11.T
The court also observed that the lowering of the standards of medical education has the potential of wreaking havoc in society at large
Highlighting the delay in All India Quota counselling for the exam, the IMA underlined that the difference between the NEET-PG 2022 exam date and the completion of 2021 counselling is too short for an aspirant to prepare and appear for such an extremely difficult exam like it.
Meanwhile, NEET PG exam date was earlier deferred by six to eight weeks, and it will now be held on May 21.
