The buzz is that along with key Cabinet posts, LJP’s Chirag Pawan is also negotiating for one deputy chief minister and sources indicate that there is also considerable pressure on the BJP to select those who will man the post from its side. In the outgoing councils of ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were BJP's two deputies to JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar.
Incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar remains the frontrunner, although some voices are calling for a change.
With the NDA securing a landslide in the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls, the process of forming the new government has accelerated.
“Unlike the past trend, the actual results were in line with the exit polls but the mandate was stronger this time,” said JM Financial Institutional Securities in its latest note.
Bihar has delivered its verdict with striking clarity. The NDA is to return to power with a sweeping mandate, securing 202 of the state’s 243 seats ~ a margin that underlines both its organisational strength and the enduring appeal of its leadership.
