Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale said that Sharad Pawar and his NCP would be welcome in the NDA, if he joins the BJP-led ruling alliance.
The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) submitted a memorandum to the President regarding the rising burden of fuel prices, the national examination system, and the alleged growing insecurity among minorities, among other issues.
According to the formula, the BJP will contest 11 seats, the Shinde-led Sena will contest 4 seats, and the Sunetra Ajit Pawar-led NCP will contest 2 seats.
Sources said that the BJP stand, which was discussed at a meeting of the Sunetra Ajit Pawar-led NCP on Tuesday evening, has not gone down well with her partymen.
The Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Bill-2026 was passed after a heated debate on late Monday night in the state Legislative Assembly.
Sharad Pawar-led NCP MLA met Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi in Delhi on Wednesday and questioned why the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena was prevented from raising Ajit Pawar's air crash in the Lok Sabha.
Posting pictures, along with a statement, about his meeting on his official X account, Rohit Pawar stated that besides Sonia Gandhi, he met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. “Kharge told Sonia Gandhi about the detailed discussion held at the meeting and mentioned that it is a very serious matter”.
The development came even as Sharad Pawar-led NCP leader Rohini Khadse threatened that “the gas shortage should be resolved immediately, otherwise we will take to the streets”.
The meeting, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, was attended by the state’s Chief Electoral Officer and senior officials of the Commission.
