Activists of Hindu right-wing organizations assaulted a Muslim man at the Bhopal district court premises on Friday when he arrived with a Hindu woman, both adults, to submit documents for an interfaith marriage.
The accused Bagdu Lal (26) has been arrested, they said, adding that a sword used in the crime has been recovered.
This is the second case in the last 24 hours in the region in which fake charges were made against people from the minority community which has been exposed by the police.
The incident happened in Hailakandi on 12 May, Sunday, when Ruben Das was faced with a major problem as his wife went into labour at a time a curfew was in place.
As per the video circulated, the man was asked by the mob if he had a licence to sell beef and whether he was from Bangladesh.
The accused persons, however, alleged that Babu Khan was trying to enter the mosque in an inebriated state and hence he was stopped from entering.
