Announcing this at a press conference attended by all the alliance partners, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said that the decision was made with the consent of his party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi.
However, it remains unclear how many seats the RJD, Congress, and Left parties will contest. So far, the Congress has released a list of 48 candidates, while the RJD announced nominees for 46 seats.
However, all is not well within the alliance, as disagreements have surfaced among the Opposition partners, delaying the announcement of their seat-sharing arrangement.
Jitan Sahani was found murdered at his ancestral house located at Afzala village under Birol police station on July 16.
Considered an influential leader of the “Mallah” (fishermen) community, Sahani is neither in alliance with NDA nor with INDIA till date.
The VIP had fought the last 2020 assembly polls as part of the NDA and won four seats out of 11 it was offered under the seat-sharing deal.
Akhtarul Iman, an AIMIM leader of Bihar, backed Mukesh Sahani and criticised the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh for not allowing him to go out of the Varanasi airport.
"What kind of government Yogi Adityanath is running in Uttar Pradesh? He is scared of one person. He is worried that one person could disturb the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh," Mukesh Sahani said.
Meanwhile, the part of ruling alliance Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan too held a meeting with the state working committee members via video conferencing in the run-up to the elections, to look into the preparations of the party.
