With the BJP-led NDA announcing its seat-sharing pact for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections 2025, pressure is mounting on the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan allies to reach a consensus on the distribution of seats among the constituent parties.
However, all is not well within the alliance, as disagreements have surfaced among the Opposition partners, delaying the announcement of their seat-sharing arrangement.

Speaking about the internal discord, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni, an ally of the Mahagathbandhan, admitted that the alliance is facing issues that need to be addressed.
“Mahagathbandhan has become a bit unwell. We are going to Delhi, and all the doctors are in Delhi, so better treatment will happen there. We will return to Patna after getting healthy,” Sahni said in Patna before leaving for the national capital.
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his CM-hopeful son Tejashwi Yadav have already reached Delhi, where they are expected to hold a crucial meeting with the Congress leadership.
An official announcement is likely tomorrow. “We will announce the seat-sharing tomorrow… a meeting will be held, and everything will be finalised. The Mahagathbandhan is united, and the current corrupt government is certain to go,” Bihar Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said.
Earlier today, the ruling NDA announced its seat-sharing pact for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, with both the BJP and JD(U) contesting an equal number of seats.
As per the pact, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and the BJP will contest 101 seats each. Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has been allotted 29 seats, while Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Party (Secular) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will contest six seats each.
