About five CBI investigations have been ordered against the state government in the last two weeks. The latest is the alleged gang rape and murder of a minor at Hanskhali. The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed senior IPS officer Damayanti Sen to oversee the investigation into four recent cases of rape that were reported in West Bengal.
"Mamata Banerjee's crass comment on the rape and murder of 14 year old girl in Hanskhali is not just abhorrent but also steeped in gross illegality. Sexual intercourse with a minor is rape. It is a crime. Her murder is a crime. Bengal CM shamed the victim and defended the accused."
