The Calcutta High Court’s observations on Bengal’s Eid-related cattle slaughter restrictions triggered a sharp political clash involving BJP, TMC and Left leaders.
A fresh political and legal storm erupted around Trinamul Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday after a criminal complaint accusing her of making “anti-national” and “seditious” remarks on “Operation Sindoor” was filed before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Krishnagar, Nadia.
The TMC MP has alleged that a group of passengers shouted political slogans and recorded her during the flight before the doors were opened. She has also questioned the airline crew’s response during the incident.
The BJP bagged 206 seats and remained ahead of the TMC, which managed 81. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lost her Bhabanipur seat to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari by more than 15,000 votes.
After casting her vote in Karimpur, Nadia, Mahua Moitra raised concerns over alleged voter deletions and questioned gaps in infrastructure and connectivity in the region. She also commented on turnout expectations and the electoral process while highlighting issues related to voter lists and local development.
With Mamata Banerjee heading the star campaigner roster and candidates spread across five regions, TMC is mounting its most organised electoral effort in Assam to date.

She argued that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fighting the political battle on behalf of the people of the state.
Sources indicate that major changes are likely in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council, as well as in the team of newly-appointed BJP president Nitin Nabin, “anytime after Holi, around March–April.” They also point out that Puri’s second Rajya Sabha term is scheduled to end on November 25, 2026.
In its November 10, 2025 order, the Saket court had rejected Moitra's plea seeking Henry's interim custody for 10 days every month.
