Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) candidate Sonu Kumar Rai won the by-election for the Bihar Legislative Council's Bhojpur-cum-Buxar Local Authorities constituency seat, defeating JD(U) candidate Kanhaiya Prasad by 340 votes.
