Incessant rain brought by the low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation resulted in waterlogging on railway tracks in Sealdah division today.
The low pressure area was likely to form on the Odisha coast either on May 26 or 27, Dr SC Sahu, Director of CEC, said.
It was expected to lie over North West Bay of Bengal in the evening of Saturday and intensify into a depression over the same area on Sunday, it said.
RMD Deputy Director General S Balachandran said that the low pressure has formed North of the Andaman (and Nicobar Islands) and South east of the Bay of Bengal.
