Glimmer of hope

A recent judgment by Lahore High Court which, extensively citing Indian judicial verdicts, has termed the so-called ‘virginity tests’ routinely conducted on survivors of rape or sexual assault a ‘blatant violation of the dignity of a woman’ and held them to be unconstitutional.

Reprieve for Musharraf

He ruled: “We direct the law enforcement agencies to strive their level best to apprehend the fugitive/convict and to ensure that the punishment is inflicted as per law and if found dead, his corpse be dragged to the D-Chowk, Islamabad, and be hanged for three days.”
