A large number of devotees from Uttar Pradesh had attended the Haridwar Kumbh Mela.

The Prime Minister`s appeal came after a Hindu seer is reportedly lost his life after Covid-19 infection and nearly 100 other holy men have tested positive after attending a vast Indian religious festival where millions of pilgrims have been ignoring Covid-19 advice despite a national surge in infections.
Without mentioning any community, CM Tirath Rawat narrated ration distribution system, “Every family got 5 kilo ration per head. A family of 10 got 50 kilo ration each, 20 got 100 kg and a two-member family got 10 kg ration.”
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Kumbh and under it only visitors with a negative Covid- 19 test report, done 72 hours prior to the date of visit, will be allowed to enter the Kumbh Mela area.
Gangasagar mela is an annual congregation of Hindu pilgrims at the Sagar island where they take holy dips at the confluence of the Ganga and the Bay of Bengal during the Makar Sankranti.
With the excellent arrangements that were put in place, it may be expected that pilgrims and tourists would carry pleasant memories back.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the PM was seen performing the aarti and the ceremonial puja on the occasion.
