The Telangana government has appointed a high-level committee to study the report submitted by the judicial commission investigating the controversial Kaleshwaram Project, which was constructed during the previous BRS regime.
The BRS argued that the decision to alter the original blueprint of the project was based on technical and hydrological factors, as the Maharashtra government had objected to a higher Full Reservoir Level (FRL) for the proposed dam.
Releasing the final report of the National Dam Safety Authority (NSDA) on the Kaleshwaram project, Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the agency confirmed the structural collapse of all three barrages of the project.
The BRS, in its defence, said Kaleshwaram was a mega project and it would not be correct to say that the sagging of some pillars means the entire project was a waste.
The Congress leader neither knows the history nor does he make an effort to learn, the BRS chief said calling him a “pappu”.
