On 27 February 2026, a Special Court at Rouse Avenue in New Delhi discharged all 23 accused in the CBI’s prosecution concerning the Delhi Excise Policy.
The move to impeach a judge of the Madras High Court for a judgment that he had pronounced is patently wrong, because according to the Constitution, a judge of the High Court may be removed by impeachment only on the ground of proven misbehaviour or incapacity, which can hardly be inferred from a single judgement – even if demonstrably wrong.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram along with party colleague Abhishek Manu Singhvi said: “The judgement of the Supreme Court in the cases concerning the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution has decided many issues but has left open some issues that are also vitally important."
