JD(U) calls April 20 meet to elect new legislative party leader

The Janata Dal (United) has convened a meeting of its legislative party on April 20, where a new leader is likely to be elected to fill the leadership vacuum, which has emerged since Nitish Kumar stepped down as Chief Minister and moved to the Rajya Sabha.

Conspiracy angle emerges for JD(U)’s poor show in Bihar polls

"The Nitish Kumar government has carried out so many public welfare works during his last tenure from 2015 to 2020. Still, the party won only 43 seats. Such a dismal result came not due to our failure, but because the conspirators executed the plan well against us," Vijay Chaudhary.

JD-U to contest Assembly polls without BJP

Addressing the Press, Bablu Mahato, chairman of the election committee of JDU West Bengal, said, “Bihar and Bengal have different political landscapes and hence we do not feel it is mandatory to strike an alliance with the BJP here.”

A minister goes

The opposition has alleged that sanction for his prosecution was granted by then Governor of the state and that a FIR had been registered, leading to his suspension from the party for some time in 2017.

The new challenger

Notwithstanding its victory, which was a narrow one, the BJP is aware that it now facing a doughty challenger in Tejashwi, who may well become the opposition’s new mascot. This possibility is all the greater because Rahul Gandhi has failed to make an impact in Bihar. Not only has his party proved to be a liability for the mahagathbandhan, his own rallies proved to be far less effective than those of Tejashwi
