After days of hesitation, residents of Poaturkuthi — one of the former enclaves along the Indo-Bangladesh border — have finally started collecting their SIR (Special Intensive Revision) enumeration forms, following the intervention of North Bengal Development minister Udayan Guha.
With the launch of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, booth level officers (BLOs) across North Bengal have begun visiting households to distribute enumeration forms.
The curfew prohibits individuals from attempting to cross into Bangladesh or enter Indian territory unlawfully.
Under current Indo-Bangladesh border management norms, fencing is erected 150 yards inside Indian territory to comply with bilateral agreements.
