One major flashpoint was during the sixth episode of India’s Got Latent when contestant Santosh Patra performed jokes that belittled people with disabilities. Shockingly the judges initially endorsed these remarks sparking outrage online.
The trouble began earlier this year when a question posed by Ranveer Allahbadia to a contestant stirred a massive online backlash. Soon after there was an FIR against Samay, Ranveer and other panel members.
Earlier this year, Kunal Kamra called a political leader a “gaddar” at The Habitat, leading Rahool Kanal and others to reportedly vandalize the venue.
In the episode, Ashish was mostly just laughing, but even that got him into trouble. The police questioned why he laughed, and he had to explain that it was because of inside jokes.
“Some celebrities claimed they rejected an invite, but we never even asked them. I was upset and angry. Not just with them, but with human nature,” he said.
Earlier this year, Samay was named in an FIR (First Information Report) along with content creators Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Ranveer Allahbadia.
“I actually did the show before the controversy, so it couldn’t have affected me,” she explained. “But had I done it afterward, I think I would have been a bit more mellow."
The two previously faced off in a livestreamed match, but this new video comes at a time for Raina, who’s slowly stepping back into regular content creation, post controversy.
