Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan police has also ended its investigation into the 2011 World Cup final which was claimed to be fixed by the former Sri Lankan sports minister.
The investigation happened after Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who was the sports minister in 2011, alleged that the finals was fixed and Sri Lanka underperformed to let India win.
Kapil Dev, however, agreed that in the beginning not many in the team had thought that they would go on to conquer the world on foreign land.
The 1983 World Cup win made cricket a tool for a third world country to set itself free from the colonial shackles and forge its own identity.
