The housing market continued its downward trend with housing sales in India’s top 9 cities falling by 23 per cent while supply declining by a whopping 34 per cent in January-March of 2025, said a report by NSE-listed data analytics firm PropEquity.
A recent report by housing brokerage firm, Anarock, said the housing sales are estimated to fall 4 per cent this year in seven major cities to nearly 4.6 lakh units on lower launches.
PropEquity, a real estate data analytic firm, data shows that housing sales in Delhi-NCR are likely to rise to 12,915 units during the October-December period of this calendar year from 10,354 units in the year-ago period.
Anarock data showed the fall in sales of residential properties in July-September to 1,07,060 units from 1,20,290 units in the year-ago period.
The nine major cities include Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Navi Mumbai and Thane, the report highlighted.
The study by the real estate consultancy firm, Anarock, said that approximately 6,400 new residential units were launched between July and September 2022. In comparison to the previous quarter, new launches grew by 57 per cent but saw a 24 per cent decline on a YoY basis.
Sales in Delhi-NCR increased to 46,920 units from 44,300 units, while sales in Chennai rose by 4 per cent to 11,820 units from 11,340.
