Assam Rifles has been continuously operating against narcotics and drug smuggling in the state in an endeavour to strengthen the future of Mizoram.
Acting on specific information, a joint team comprising the Assam Rifles, Zokhawthar, and Champhai Customs Preventive Force conducted successful operations.
The Special Task Force (STF) wing of Odisha police made a seizure of brown sugar ((heroin), valued at more than Rs one crore in the black market and arrested a drug peddler from a highway side village in Keonjhar district.
To reduce the demand, the IGP said the police will involve district administrations, Health Department, Education Department and Sports Department to identify the consumers and rehabilitate them to channelise their energy in the right direction.
In two separate operations, the sleuths of Delhi Police have arrested two Nigerian nationals and recovered over one kg of heroin worth more than Rs 1 crore in international market.
With this seizure the Customs officials of the Mumbai Airport have succeeded in busting an International drug cartel.
"A container having more than 22 tonnes of Licorice coated with Heroin has been seized from Nhava Sheva Port, Mumbai," the senior official said.
The DGP said that based on the information, a ATS team with DRI Jamnagar team were sent to Kolkata, where during the inspection it found some 12 gear boxes with white marks on it.
The police have also recovered Rs 2.73 crore of drug money from the possession of drug smugglers arrested in these two months.
