Three people died in a helicopter crash near Bavdhan in Pune district on Wednesday morning.
The chopper's rotor blades struck the naval official on the runway, causing his death, according to reports.
He said, "The loss of precious lives is indeed unfortunate and painful". Members then stood in silence to pay tributes to the departed souls.

The Taliban claimed to have shot down the helicopter. The group's spokesman said the insurgent group downed the helicopter in a "direct attack".
The helicopter belonging to Vichai Srivaddhnaprabha, the chairman of Premier League football club Leicester City, crashed at the club's King Power Stadium on Saturday night, shortly after takeoff from the centre of the ground.
