Esha Singh clinched gold in the women’s 25m pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Munich with a record-breaking score of 43, setting both a world and junior world record in a commanding final performance.
Manu, who had just managed to qualify for the final as the eighth and last shooter, produced a strong performance in the medal round.
India also struck gold in the women’s team event and picked up silver in the men’s team competition, taking the hosts’ overall tally to four medals — two gold, one silver and one bronze on the opening day of pistol finals.
The Indian shot a score of 30 in the final, to finish behind in-form Chinese Yao Qianxun (silver, score: 38) and Korea’s reigning Olympic Champion Yang Jiin (gold, score: 40).
After the completion of the Precision stage on Thursday, Esha stood fourth while Manu was placed seventh among the lineup of 85 shooters.

After topping qualification with a score of 586, Varun Tomar, cousin of former world champion and Tokyo Olympian Saurabh Chaudhary, pipped compatriot Arjun Singh Cheema in the final.
