The incident took place late Saturday night, at around 01.45 am, when the victims, including an 8-year-old girl, were sleeping on the footpath.
The deceased, identified as Abhijit Gupta, a resident of C R Park, who lived with his sister in an apartment, had been grappling with depression, a senior police officer said.
According to the police, they were alerted about the incident when the team reached the spot.
Amit Kaushik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said, “Acting on a tip-off, a Special Cell team laid a strategic trap and intercepted the duo, who were riding a stolen motorcycle.”
One of the victims, 25-year-old Kumar Dhirender Pratap, a native of Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead inside a lift, suspected to have died of suffocation.
