The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the operation of a November 2025 Delhi High Court judgment, which had held that law students cannot be barred from appearing in examinations solely on the ground of shortage of attendance, observing that the National Law Universities were suffering due to the High Court’s decision.
The Delhi High Court granted Umar Khalid interim bail from June 1 to June 3, citing humanitarian grounds linked to his mother’s surgery.
The notice has been issued to alleged contemnors, including AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj, Vinay Mishra and Durgesh Pathak.
The Supreme Court on Friday set aside the Delhi High Court’s order suspending the jail sentence of former Uttar Pradesh BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the 2017 Unnao rape case and granting him bail.
The court then disposed of the plea saying: "In view of the above, let the bids be evaluated and the orders ... be placed before the successful bidders expeditiously to ensure compliance of directions of the Supreme Court."
The Joint Registrar listed the matter for April 17 for further directions before the bench which had passed the interim order. A single-bench judge of Justice Yashwant Varma was dealing with the case seeking interim relief.

The court observation came in an order, passed in a petition seeking direction to the Central Government to constitute a Regulatory Authority/censor board to censor/review the non-film songs, their lyrics and videos which are made available to the general public through various media platforms like Television, YouTube, etc. and make it mandatory for composers of non-film songs to receive certification before such songs are made available in the public domain.
